Your photo never leaves your device. We collect as little as we can, we don't sell anything about you, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we are
PhotoToQuilt is a business name of Arceteer Inc., 570 Hood Road, Unit 14, Markham, Ontario L3R 4G7, Canada. We're responsible for the information described here. Questions or requests: support@phototoquilt.com.
Your photos
When you make a pattern, your photo is turned into a quilt by code running in your own web browser. Your photo is never uploaded to us or anyone else. We can't see it, store it or share it.
When you go to checkout, your pattern (its settings, a small copy of the image and the grid of squares) is saved in your browser's own storage on your device, so the pattern is still there when you come back from paying. It stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
What we collect, and why
When you visit the site
Our site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Our fonts are served from our own site, not from Google or any other third party.
When you buy
Payments are handled by Stripe and its affiliates, who process transactions for us. Depending on where you live, your order may be sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service. At checkout, Stripe or Link collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details, and uses them to take payment, calculate sales tax, prevent fraud and send your receipt. We receive your name, email, country and what you bought, but never your full card number. Stripe's use of your information is covered by the Stripe privacy policy; Link's is covered by the Link privacy policy.
When you have a Pro account
We keep your email address, your Stripe customer number, your subscription status and renewal date, so we know you have Pro. These are stored with Cloudflare. To sign in, you ask for a one-time code, which we send to your email through our email provider, Resend. We store codes only in scrambled (hashed) form, and they expire after about 10 minutes. When you sign in, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in. It's needed for the account to work, and it isn't used for anything else.
When you email us
We receive your email address and your message, and use them only to answer you. Emails to support@phototoquilt.com are routed through Cloudflare to our inbox.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers above, and only so they can do their job for us:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, database and email routing
- Stripe and Link: payments, sales tax, fraud prevention and receipts
- Resend: sending sign-in codes
These providers may process information in the United States and other countries. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising. We'd only disclose it otherwise if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Purchase and tax records: as long as tax law requires, usually seven years in Canada.
- Pro account details: while you have Pro, and up to 12 months after it ends, so you can come back easily. Ask us and we'll delete them sooner, apart from records we must keep for tax.
- Support emails: up to two years after we last hear from you.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy. Email support@phototoquilt.com and we'll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the EU, the UK or California), you may have more rights under your local law, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. In Canada that's the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
PhotoToQuilt is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters for Pro subscribers, we'll email them before it takes effect.
